Tip #1. Take plenty pictures
Tip #2. Fiddle with camera settings - one by one... write down your changes with the image # to see differences.
Tip #3. Take plenty pictures
Tip #4. Keep the lens fixed (not use the zoom) and walk to your subject rather than zoom.
Tip #5. Take plenty pictures
Tip #6. Take a pic at the sun rather than away - who knows how it might come out!
Tip #7. Take plenty pictures
Tip #8. Take plenty pictures.

Get the point?! Photographer

Okay I downloaded your images to get the camera data... (it would always be helpful for you the post the camera settings with the pics to get better reviews/suggestions etc. )

This setting I thought you should have kept for the rest of the images. But I also noticed that you were changing the zoom on the lens too.. Don't be fooled by what you see in the LCD screen...

If you look at the bigger version posted of this image, see how it has the lowest F-stop, and how much 'depth of field' there is! Compared to the next image where so much is in focus...

These two were just there.. Didn't seem to need the flash but keep on experimenting and posting:)

Congrats on the cam Plex.

Princess-Kaveshla, could you elaborate on why not to use the zoom? I never really though about that before Neutral

One of my pics:

Camera - EOS 350D / Rebel XT
Lens - Tamron 70-300mm Tele-macro
ISO - 400
Focal Length - 238mm
Shutter Speed - 1/125 sec
f-stop - 5.6

Real nice..

Zoom is not bad!! Don't get me wrong, but when you're training yourself to look for compositions, it's sometimes better to get closer to the subject than just depend on the zoom lens. You see things different and most times the results are so much better..
