Introducing... The XWorks Concept X-1.

Co-OrdSport/Part-Box Online wrote:
X-Works has spent the last 30 months developing a concept, culminating in the car you see here
a prototype known simply as X-1...

Quote:
Featuring a carbon composite passenger cell and lightweight carbon and aluminium subframes,
the X-1 tips the scales at a scant 1,180kg. Combined with four-wheel drive and a 350bhp
version of the Evos turbocharged, 4G63 2.0-litre engine, this light and extremely stiff construction
should provide explosive performance. Indeed, 0-62mph in around 3.5 seconds starts to make
the X-1 a good candidate for the new definition of anything but slow.

Quote:
And thats before specifying any tuning options with versions pushing 500bhp on offer, the
niche sportscar establishment are probably already into some controlled heavy breathing exercises.
If for some reason this still isnt enough, X-Works is also planning a competition variant.
With a weight drop to 1,000kgs, this targets serious trackday enthusiasts and full competition
drivers who are looking for something a little different. Or perhaps a roof.

Quote:
Revealed to the public for the first time during Autosport International in January, X-1 is only
the concept designation. Theres still no proper name yet but X-2 is already under construction,
incorporating a number of improvements, principally to the interior.
Hopefully the exteriors signed-off, though, as the car currently looks not only stunningly aggressive
but also purposeful.

Hi Plex. Not just any turbo engine... the 4G63 'Evo' engine. It still has the highest torque and
widest torque band of any 4-cyl. 2-litre production engine ever made (289 lb-ft @ 3500 rpm.)
... at least for the time being. Evo X's 4B11T (300 lb-ft @ 4400rpm) may push it a bit later.
We'll see. Link--> The 4G63 is dead!... Long live the King! (4B11T)

BTW remember the ProDrive P2?... Link--> Son of Subbie.

I wish they would hurry up and do the same for the Evo 9 Exclamation Cool

... Well the X-1 is it!... and they both look like first cousins too!... Laughing

Paul Tan wrote:
So, which is better, the Concept X1 or the Prodrive P2? Both are 4 wheel drive, but from what
I can see Prodrive seems to have put more development into the Prodrive P2s differential.
But there is one thing that makes the Concept X1 have the ultimate edge over the Prodrive P2.
It will actually be produced, instead of being stuck in the Prodrive P2's engineering concept status.
Expected retail price of the X-1 is 45,000.

Nice find Sanctifier! Do you know if it uses the evo drivetrain as well or just the engine?
