This year didn't start out too well for John, but like any true champion, picked himself up and got on with the job. This accident is very unfortunate and I hope that NHRA's liveliest character makes it through okay.

was really a nasty crash. saw it on ESPN2 yesterday.

kudos to their layout, and emergency services though.

Bernstein was actually out ion front when he crossed the center line and hit the timing sensors.
although not readily visible in the video it is speculated that parts of the sensor crossed in front of Forces car and bounced off the wall and then under his rear tires causing catastrophic failure of both tires. the car separated at the engine plate as it was designed to, thereby separating the driver cell from the power unit and fuel system.

In true John Force style, one of his main questions was wether or not he had won the run. the win was given to John when Bernstein crossed the center line thereby disqualifing on that pass.
