Canon EOS 40D Preview
Phil Askey, August 2007
The EOS 40D becomes the sixth Canon 'prosumer' digital SLR, a line which started back in 2000 with the EOS D30, and how far we've come. It's been eighteen months since the EOS 30D and although on the surface the 40D looks like a fairly subtle upgrade there's a lot that makes this an even better camera. Of course we expect a step up in megapixels, and so the 40D comes with a ten million pixel CMOS sensor with the same sort of dust reduction as the EOS 400D, an ultrasonic platform which shakes the low pass filter. Other improvements bring the EOS 40D closer into line with the EOS-1D series, these include a move to the same page-by-page menu system, both RAW and sRAW (2.5 MP), 14-bit A/D converter and 14-bit RAW, cross-type AF points for F5.6 or faster lenses, a larger and brighter viewfinder, interchangeable focusing screens, a larger LCD monitor (3.0") and faster continuous shooting (6.5 fps).

I havent gotten my hands on one yet but I would assume so, the 10 & 20ds were both really good. I hoping to attend a lil photo get together at an official photo store opening this weekend.. maybe just maybe I'll get to play:) _________________ Mowgli : "Use the Zorce Princess Kaveshla!"...

Keep us inform..I have been doing some research on this camera and it is very fast, excellent for sporting events...6.5 fps continuous shooting...
Can 3fps be acceptable or the faster is the better way to go? |

Well, it all depends on what you're gonna shoot - but its like having a faster computer versus a slower one - I would have to say yeah the faster the better especially with high speed cars - unless you're doing more still work then it really doesnt matter that much. _________________ Mowgli : "Use the Zorce Princess Kaveshla!"...

Might I also suggest if you can rent equipment that you may like and test them out too... See how you feel with it.. _________________ Mowgli : "Use the Zorce Princess Kaveshla!"...

I would like to say its a good camera. My choice was between 40d and the xsi. Xsi is very good camera, but i went with the 40d. Reason being after doing my research on canon web site i realised that this camera had great potental.
Not only in speed, but i saw it was compatible with all canon lenses which showed there is great potental in this camera. And also i wanted it to be my last camera..
Canon EF, EF-S, TS-E, and MP-E lenses.(see link below)

I know once you love photography one interests tends to grow beyond . |
