Jordi Gene has admitted that he is not expecting too much from his diesel-powered SEAT Leon when the WTCC heads to Oschersleben.
The next round of the series takes place in just over two weeks' time around the twisty German circuit, and Gene believes that the heavier diesel car could struggle in comparison to the petrol cars.
"At Oschersleben it will be difficult to get something with the diesel, because it's a slow, twisty circuit with changes of direction," said Gene. "That's something that this car doesn't do well.
"The petrol cars are lighter, with good speed in the corners, but they lack top speed. The diesel has more power but it's heavier by 55 kilos so in the corners you lose out."
However, the Spaniard admitted that the problem with a diesel in the corners is minimised because the Leon has a good chassis, and he also thinks that the power advantage could play into his hands on a faster track like Monza.
"Luckily for us, we have the best chassis in the championship and I think that will mean we don't suffer too much," he said.
"For Oschersleben we don't have to throw in the towel, but then come Monza it will be great."
