Intake helps with throttle response,
Exhaust is a waste of time, wihtout extractors, which is very costly.
Best thing you can do is put in a gearbox.

Intake gives you better trhottle response, more low end torque.
Exhaust allows more high end torque. wasted with an automatic, and even with a g/b it's more fun to get power out of a corner, than waiting for it to build on a straight.

in my experience with GA15's.
Intake <$600
Exhaust (Barrel + extractors) >$2000

Go intake alone, if you want a peppy run-about car. If the only place you want to get persons is top end, then go the route of Exhaust.

Short-ram intake with a good heat shield would be just as good as a cold-air intake......tell me if i'm wrong

^^^
your right, .
the stock airbox has a diameter of approx 2" at its most restrictive point.
the air intake at the throttle body is approx 3".
Any removal of that obstruction will be beneficial

where can i get the extractors for the ga15?
i put on a cold air intake and it did wonders for the trottle response.
now looking at doing the exhaust, but wondering who sells the extractors..

Sherrif in San'do has extractors, $1750.

Imraj will make them out of aluzinc for you as well, cost you about $800.
warning, may not be as durable as the prefab.

thanks guys....
Imraj did my cold air intake.....
i only planning on holding on to the GA 15 for the next 2 years then i going to upgrade to a SR20 DE or VVL....which ever one i decide when i am ready to do the conversion...but for now i want to get as much from the GA15 as possible...
but i have another question.....would it make sence if i put bigger pistons on a GA15 block?
i never interfere with the engine more than a tune up...but i got a working GA15 from a friend who took it out to put in a SR....so i was wondering if it will make sence to sleve the block an put on bigger pistons...i not sure if the block would be able to hanle it....also if it is possible to do that...would i have to put in a new crank shaft? what about valves?
what you all think Question

not sure,
i've been advised that as far as GA blocks go, they're strong, but not indestructible.
boring it, would weaken the cylinder walls, and you may end up throwing a rod.
how are you planning to get the bigger combustion to drive the bigger piston?

was planning on getting bigger injectors....
i was thinking about getting the ones from a qg18 and see if they would work.
i now learning about building engines ...so this engine is my trail and error toy....
i prefer to have hands on learning when it comes to building the engine.....but i don't wanna strip it yet until i have some more information...
i have a service manual....but it don't have the information i looking for...
kinda looking for a detail description of what i might run into.....i know that stripping it down will be very easy...is puting it back together will be the hard part lol but i really wanna build this engine and get some good performance from it.
any ideas as to where i can get information on how to re-build one?
i would welcome any advice.......

Bigger injectors mean more fuel... You may just run rich and lose power in the end without mods to flow more air AND burn more gas.

A larger throttle body, headwork and intake plenum along with the intake and exhaust will flow more air.

With all this, power gains will still be only moderate but at least the car will be stronger than average.

A manual gearbox will certainly help more than anything else. Along with the above mods you can look at a lighter flywheel and a moderate clutch/pressure plate package.

In the end bore and stroke ratios, compression ratio and factory flow capabilities through intake, manifold, head, extractors and exhaust determine your starting point.

If you've got the cash you could pick another engine that starts with better power and more peformance potential, but I've come across a few strong GA performers in the old days of gangsta drags.
