As absurd this might sound, it might be actually come to reality. The European Parliament is talking about banning cars that are capable of a top speed more than 101 mph (160 km/h). In most of the European the top speed limit on the highways is 80 mph (130 km/h), so a car that is capable of 101 mph is around 25% higher.

The proposal come in an attempt to cut the CO2 emissions from cars, and many of the silliest parts come from British Lib Dem MEP Chris Davies.

Chris Davies said that cars have gradually increased in power and weight, which increases their CO2 emissions, even though people cannot legally use that extra power.

His report also suggests that a fifth of car advertisements should be devoted to cars fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The European Commission is preparing legislation that would limit CO2 emissions of the average new car sold in Europe to 130g per kilometre, by 2012.

What does this means for the European? Good bye Ferrari, or Porsche, or Veyron or any other fast car that of course is made in Europe. Isnt this quite absurd? Make cool cars, but arrent allowed to drive them!

I've been saying this for years: if the world agrees that xxMPH is a safe speed, why allow cars that do 3x that limit????? It's a gross double standard. I say go for it
