it was "sticking"... so I tried a more drastic approach this time around + I think that the thermostat serves more of a purose for cold countries...to heat up de engine...since we in a tropical climate I figured...well...what is the need to put heat on heat...and it's working without any probs!

Not really the thermostat helps keep the engine at an optimal operating temperature this is required for proper lubrication since most additives in automotive oils are temperature activated. Tolerance and clearances are other important factors as operating temperature is a key component in the design and tolerance calculations for the moving parts in the engine. Fuel consumption will also be effected because an input from the coolant temperature sensor along with other sensors helps the ECU calculate fuel requirements.

He did not recommend...but did not advise against...so far so good and I am working on getting a new one...but I am still of the opinion that with our climate a thermostat is not too much of use...I respect all your advise and opinion though and thank you for them...THanx!
