Josefs South Speed Stages
Release from: Barry McKenzie, VP TTRC
MARSHALS MARSHALS MARSHALS !!!!!
WHERE HAVE THEY GONE?
Anyway the rally was a success albeit short of Competitors as well.
Even though many competitors didnt show, it seemed they are all hyped up for the run-up to the international in August so a lot of guys are preparing for the next event on July 17th.
I was on the famous Tunnel Corner on the Cedar Hill stage and saw the lil yellow Escort it drew laughter on previous rallies as it always left
Parts behind. But this time... Whoaaaa, instead shouts of amazement
And shouts of support for the sideway escort. Wesley sat in for Driver/Owner Mark Pogson, who was called to work on the morning, you could have seen the progress the little yellow escort made as the driver got more and more
Confident with each stage. Who knows he might be the Driver to look out for as competition for the front runners in the 2WD Class.
Rezan Mohammed in the Lancer GSR Turbo front wheel drive was most precise throughout the entire day, a marked improvement, and was justly rewarded with first place in the two wheel category.
The Ex-Rallymac Motors Evo 2 worked flawlessly on Sunday with the new link management system installed by Prentice and the right combination of spring
Choice. Darrel was only 1.35 seconds behind the leader in the 4WD Class, Ainsley Lochan and Mark Telfer in the NP/Josefs /Stag sponsored Evo 7. Ainsley
Complained of a slipping clutch yet still managed to lower his times on the stage with each run.
*
John Powell, his navigator Michael March and myself had a close look at the stage and have confirmed that the Cedar hill stage is probably the fastest stage in the Caribbean.
Believe it or not Jerome Bench who was spectating on the stage, called me all excited, Barry ah find a boss piece of addition to the stage Ah had a look at the road that we thought went into the village but it actually turned away and runs along the ridge, giving us an extra 1.9 KM added to the stage giving a total length on 6.1KM for the Cedar Hill Stage. The boys want to give it a trial run the last weekend before the next rally on July 17th. Oh
gosh, you know we need all the practice we can get, because when the foreign contingent gets here they will run those stages ten times to get it perfect, and yuh know this is we backyard.
Car 0 proved a true wake up call to Scott Sheppard and his Co Driver Patrick! Marcus Edghill was guiding their hands they looked quite impressive through the tunnel and I understand they were literally flying. Marcus will be
Missed.
The event ran almost flawlessly except for the niggling problem of marshals. The event started 30 mins late - Suggestions anyone?
Our next event will be on July 17th as we continue our battle preparation for the foreigners.
We will be running the Waterloo, Woodford Lodge and Caroni Rice Project.
These stages have not been used in over 2 years, but Caroni has made major repairs to them and they should be in great condition for the Event.

Derek Charles our Event Manager sunk his teeth in this rally as a trial run for the organisation of the international , and came out with some fast learning curves but did an excellent Job. Thank You Derek
