So I want to start with minor mods, and I figure exhaust would be a good starting point. Want to make it less restrictive, not increasing the size, just interested in perhaps removing the cats. Advantages? Disadvantages? Sensors etc? Anyone has any info to help me out?

I not sure about adv & disadvantages..But i can tell u is you do get a nice sound when you pressing the pedal...Some ppl claim you get HP gain the most u proabaly get is 2hp or less around there....I changed my and i notice the accleration is better..But do not expect any big gains...

U can safely do an intake and exhaust mods to your car...U can get these parts here...There are universal parts...That the first thing most people do..Let the car breathe better...

If you lowering u can use stock shock on lowering springs no more than 1 in drop ...Lower than 1in change to aftermarket shocks..

less restriction on your exhaust will be most noticeable at top end speed.

you will get that, nothing that will pin you back in your seat but it will help the acceleration a bit. Coupled with a freed up intake and a power boost valve you should be pleased.

some aftermarket headers should give you a little HP increase too.

orr........If you remove the cats GAIA will be upset.......you polluting the atmosphere Twisted Evil ..........try and get a High-flow cat., which will give you a free-flowing exhaust and still reduce emissions.

New high flow catalytic converters perform just as well as if u had no cat.

You need to be a bit careful with the Peugeot exhaust, tampering with or modification to the original design can cause you to loose power so I suggest you do some research before you tamper with your exhaust its not as simple as it seems

Today was the first time I opened up the bonnet, didn't realize how dirty it was in there. Anyhoo, I was looking for a place to put the filter, I did a ratch job so far. Any suggestions, tips, hints etc?

This is what I did with it so far.

check out Ecosse for ideas on what OTC mods are available, and at what prices
geberally speaking, a 4-2-1 header will give you some more midrange torque (3 - 7 bhp depending on the design) My preference for a manifold supplier is Janspeed

You would be needing a heat shield (preferably shiny aluminium box).......you'll be surprised to know how much hot air from the radiator that cone filter will suck in, and u wudnt get any performance.
