the first coat of primer was finally applied highlighting all the little imperfections on the body
Finally the painting stage is getting closer just a few days away this stage is very important and will ultimately play an important part in the final product
Still on the tings to do list are
1) build drive system for the power windows 45% complete

3) fabricate cam system to convert inside door handle 0% complete
4) design door panel to incorporate new inside handle both window and lock motors a pair of 6 mid bass drivers and a bullet or dome tweeter
5) design and build dash 75% complete
6) design and build center consol running from the dash right up to the back seat this center unit will house the sound system auxiliary switches rear cup holders A/C ducting and vents for the rear passengers 100% (design)
7) design and build circuits to digitize gauges 100% (design) 15% Construction

the base coat was applied today have a look
The gloss is unbelievable after this base some coat putty and wet sanding will be used to further smoothen and correct any imperfections on the body

Progress is a bit slow now as the painstaking task of identifying and marking the imperfections in the paint job started as well as finishing work is being done to the yellow monster in the background
nothing is being done to the engine bay because Im still undecided on a power plant |

The fenders and side skirts were all made from sheet metal and shapped by hand it took a lot of man hours and skill. All the strightener had to work with were some pictures and plenty pointers form Amos and i |

David,
The car looks amazing!!!! things like this is what makes me feel proud as a mini owner ,.... it is very encouraging and inspiring to everyone when they see a mini brought to this condition & the hours & $$ put into it..
There are a few potential mini owners in work here & they were all blown away when they saw the pics on this thread... one guy is presently restoring a mini 850 & this gave him real enthusiasm to push more work on the car ..
Keep up the good work !!!

I'm not easily impressed by cars but I think what you're doing is fantastic. And I know how much it takes to do what you're doing. Keep up the great work bro. |
