I saw this story earlier today:

"At Swinton Specialist, we love performance cars and we reckon people who choose to spend their money on a specialist car will probably take better care of it. We only deal with specialist car insurance so we're experts in getting you the best value policy. Whether you own a DB9, Impreza WRX or a classic 911 our team understand your desire to protect your investment and the unique requirements that this may involve."

http://car.swinton.co.uk/performance/

Why can't one of the local insurance companies do something like this!!!

Nice find...It is good that there is an insurance company willing to take the risk to insure these type of cars..So unfortunate ours here not willing.

If the car is considered to be high risk all they had to do(Insurance company) is charge a higher premium that all...

I have heard subaru especially the Sti, WRX are not being insured that easily someone correct me here, if this is so then Evos and other performance cars maybe in the lists...

I'm not too sure about the wrx but I know that the Evo, Sti and anything else that falls into the sports/performance car category is blacklisted by most insurance companies.

I've been trying to get an insurance quote for an Evo 8/9 and the conversation with the company usually stops at the make of the car. One smaller company was willing to insure for 26k per year for Comprehensive or 15k 3rd party fire&theft. Both of which are far too high in my opinion just in case something goes wrong Confused

I did get another quote for $1060 3rd party though Twisted Evil

So the WRX is not on the list..So these cars being insured 3rd party? So what about when they sell the new Evo here are those being insured 3rd party as well?

I'm not sure if the wrx is on the list or not but I'm guessing it is.

It should be the highest performance car that you can buy from N&M (the wrx sti is not sold by them) but at 325k on the road the insurance for it will be high. From my research, a RORO evo valued at 240k has an insurance quote for 26k so I'm not even going to ask about the new wrx Smile

The evo ix is not sold by Diamond Motors and from what they said, they only had one evo viii valued at 400k.

I'm sure that some people with those cars do have full comp with a good insurance company but they possibly had a good history with the company etc.

In my case, I'm ready to buy the evo but I have to make a decision about the insurance...I'm just not ready to hand over 26k per year to a smaller insurance company and then be worried about getting then to pay in the unlikely event that something happens.

Thats a good point. I'm sure they can get it covered.

But what are the real benefits of comprehensive insurance vs for example 3rd party with car search and the savings put aside for any problems that may come up?
