BMW will add to the 1-series line-up a new model: the M1. The M1 badge would be resurrected on a very different beast to the landmark 1970s supercar though; this time it�ll feature on the rump of the new 1-series coupe, standard versions of which will arrive next year.
The 1-series will will remain in production until 2011, so the M1 will be launched sometime next year. It will be powered by a 3.2-litre six engine, from the current M3, with an output of 343 hp. It will accelerate from 0-60mph in 5sec and would reach a top speed of 175mph.
