McLaren debuted a new bodywork package on Wednesday and hope the changes will improve the competitiveness of the MP4-22.
The Woking-based squad has a five point advantage over Ferrari in the constructors' championship while both of their drivers share the drivers' championship lead with Kimi Raikkonen.
Despite the team's good performance this season, there are concerns that the Ferrari F2007 is slightly faster than the McLaren challenger.
"The updated package is not aesthetically very different," Martin Whitmarsh told the Spanish newspaper Diario As, "but we hope to bring a winning car to Barcelona."
Test driver Gary Paffett put the updated aero-package through its paces at a private airfield in Menorca on Wednesday and the test will be completed on Thursday.
Photographs from the test indicate that the few changes are visible on the rear wing, sidepod chimneys and barge boards.
