I have been toying with the idea of returning to my mad days of driving a mini again.
No not the new model cooper the old school mini.
The cooper was a company car which due to a change in job description is no longer assigned to me, and the daily circus that is city gate is just plain crazy.
After pondering it for some time I was looking around for a place to scrap three (3) 1300cc Mini�s in the hope of amassing enough parts to build one strong car.
Well, after spending Easter weekend in Tobago with 18 cars from the TriniMini club it seems that I have found inspiration not to mention two cohorts in this madness, namely Andre Crichlow (Andre Zorce) and Narend, both of whom have decided that this RUSToration should be documented for Zorce and Paradise Motorsport, so apart from trying to avoid contracting leptospirosis from the rat excrement in the car I have to watch for wayward cameramen and various spotlights.
Any how, after four hours last night the engine is out, the clutch and flywheel are removed and the 11/2 SU has been rebuilt.
Tonight we scrap the engine and open a garden hose in the interior.

We were hoping to be able to start the engine that was in the car but it appears that the corrosion gods had other plans. The number three cylinder is completely gone, corrosion having eaten into the cylinder walls. It appears that there was some water in the cylinder.
So now its onto plan B. Tonight we are going to take the engine out of the other car and hope that it turns.
The second engine is actually a Metro 1300 A+ so it is actually the better unit.
Also found in the rubble is a modified Cooper S cylinder head with larger valves, dual springs etc.

good news
the metro engine turning.
we drained the oil and it looked almost new, the car has been parked for some time but it seem that the engine was purchased and never driven. so we are going to start it on the ground. i am not ready to put it into the car as yet. i need to drop the subframe to replace the steering rack.
i may even put in the ceramic clutch as long as the engine is already out.

the head already gone to Baldwins to glass bead and preasure test.
next step, more port work, three angle valve job.
Besides, if i sold you the parts then i woullldnt be able to out run you.

Well the rubble belongs to my dad who is glad to see something happening with our Minis and has welcomed the idea of us fixing and using the car as a Project vehicle for as long as we want to. We may even jump into restoring Mini2 after this one.

Well.... know that the trimimini club felt that they did us a great justice by leaving us out because we didn't have mini's !!! LOL
Well to clear up Dan's statement, " Like we stir up a ants nest!! " it really should be, " All yuh stir up a JEP nest !!! " Zorce & Paradise Motorsports coming real HARD !!!!

Congratulations fellas, allyuh off to a great start there...
i did my clutch a bit differently though.. i used 4 pucks placed across the spaces on the clutch disc to reinforce the disc itself....

well look how much thing we trying to get yuh back in minis.. beggin yuh to start the skateboard, inveigling yuh to come to we runs & thing just to bring yh back in the mini thing...

^^^ so yuh see??? we get thru .. all we was asking for is to put allyuh expertise of minis back into practice .. with this project , itseems we've accomplished our goal.. when it done build & the fine tuning start we'll see how allyuh "knocks coming in "

interesting, lovely to see that Andre, Christian and Narend and the other guys whome I don't know who are active in this restoration hard at work , nice stuff I see you all planning there, shold be interesting to see the final product and from the wealth of knowledge and experience that will be ammassed throughout the life of this project , there should be an explosion of rubber and octane everywhere.
