The teams were back for a second spin today on the Ortega stage under the warm Mexican sun. Here is the review of Special Stage 5.

Manfred Stohl took first place behind the wheel of his OMV Citron Kronos by no more than one thousandth of a second, the smallest accepted measure of time.

Hence Stohl's finish of SS5, Frenchman Sbastien Loeb lost out for a repeat performance of the previous trip and comes in second. In consideration of his best performance of the day for the time being, Mikko Hirvonen arrived in third position therefore granting the Ford team's best of the day for now.

The Subaru drivers kept up their practice of grouping up, this time with Chris Atkinson leading Petter Solberg by seven tenths of a second for the fourth and fifth spots of this stage.
Alhough Petter slid in this stage's rankings he still holds the overall lead, which has now melted to 2.1 seconds.

Marcus Grnholm took sixth with his Ford Focus, followed in he rankings by Daniel Sordo in the other Citron, which was then followed by a string of Fords.

Those damn Mexicans are throwing rocks on the course and at the cars. If I were the FIA I would exclude Mexico from next year's race schedule. Anyway, they are only provisionally listed for 2008.

As much as I would like to say to bring a WRC race to Trinidad, I am almost sure that there are idiots here who would do the same as those Mexicans.

BTW, I am not damning all Mexicans, just the WRC rock throwers.
