Customer evaluation vehicle project E490

At an exclusive invitation only pre Melbourne Motor Show event today March 1, Chrysler Group Australia unveiled its internal customer evaluation vehicle project E490. The Chrysler 300C SRT8 Touring E490 is a local Australian project that highlights the unique style and performance capabilities of the 300C range. In conjunction with Mopar genuine performance parts, Alpine Electronics and XPH Wheels,

The E490* customer evaluation vehicle represents the range of enhancements that customers make to their 300Cs. A small team of enthusiastic Chrysler Group employees have in a limited time gained the support of many suppliers to produce a low key customised vehicle that is as distinctive as it is affordable.

The Managing Director of Chrysler Group, Australia-Pacific Gerry Jenkins said E490* started off as a bit of a pet project of a small group of Chrysler Group employees in Mulgrave. The segment leading sales rate of the 300C continues apace. The SRT8 range in particular has maintained its leadership position with the highest model variant rate in the industry for rear wheel drive enhanced performance vehicles. We thought it was time to show a wider audience that the 300C is a unique automotive canvass that can be as individual as its buyers.

Weve done this car to assess customer reaction and the name E490 has stuck. Depending on customer response and final ADR certification we will investigate offering E490* through our dealers. Stay tuned!

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, DaimlerChrysler Australia-Pacific, David McCarthy said I have always been a huge fan of the 300C and the introduction of the SRT8 Touring gave us an opportunity to do something special. It was too good an opportunity to let go by! The SRT8 Touring combines the evocative style of the 300C with the versatility that a wagon provides. E490* is a vehicle that reflects the performance heritage of Chryslers past as well as our present range. We are living up to our Chrysler motto that Inspiration comes standard

The combination of the already tough looking 300C Touring body style, Street Racing Technology (SRT) and these individual customising touches make the E490* a fat machine. With the co operation of Alpine we had the opportunity to showcase the type of in car entertainment that is available for relatively small outlays ($6,380 RRP). When this is allied to the sports exhaust and Mopar cold air intake E490 is car that delivers serious aural pleasure. This is a very aural car

The Manager Field Support, Service and Parts, Chrysler Group, Craig Rosevear said I am a Chrysler revhead from wayback. The E490* is probably the most exciting thing that I have personally been involved in for many years. The 300C is an awesome car and the SRT8 takes it just that bit further. Weve wanted to do something like this for years and now we have. Its a real buzz to be able to utilise our assets in this way. E490* embodies the true spirit of the Chrysler Group
