Need help choosing a lens!

So im lookin for a zoom lense for my XTi.
After some lookin around i came across these 2 that look pretty decent and the price is within my budget too.
What you guys think?

28-300 looks like the MOST useful range. You'll most likely leave that lens on right through...

Yeah the 28-300 looks like the better all round lens. Unless you looking to get two soon, one wide angle , a nice one would be the 17-40.

Just take note of the filter size btw... the 28-300 is 62mm, and the 70-300 is 58. Just a heads up when yuh getting the filters (good to get the UV)
