a local show that i remember watching long before i got my permit.

"nice folks - trying to kill us" dealt with local driving habits, and consequences. was rather humorous as wel as educational.

A local version can be good...Perhaps we can have something here on zorce for teens to view whether it is an online material or actual driving techniques for demonstration...Sounds like a plan...

well as a teen.. ah shuld start!

i see the topics are

intersections
fog
wildlife
tire blows out
tire off road
hydroplaning
driver distraction
city driving
alcohol
skidding
night driving
stop lights
blind spots
head on collisions

well ill add on based on my experience.. im on the road since february of this yr.. and drive everyday. correct me when im wrong older more experienced ppl.

Intersections
when i now started off.. i just used to look left den right den pull off.. now i know that i should look left, right, den back left.. cause cars come out of nowhere sometimes Confused

also teenagers should have an idea on who had the right of way and never ever ASSUME on the road dat the other drive will wait on you to pass first.

fog
not much of this in trinidad really.

wildlife
if you see a gouti, manicou, or iguana.. hit it and bring it home for yuh father to cook Smile

but dont hit it too hard .. yuh mite damage someting.

tire blows out
never happened to me.. but i would mash breaks and pull to the side.. ???

tire off road
just pull back on the road.. no need to panic.. car mite get scratched slightly.. go and buff and polish it.

hydroplaning
wha..??? i guess driving on flooded areas??? sloww.. use alternative routes if you know any.. i never drove through water coz i know alternative routes.

driver distraction
when you driving you should not be on the fone.. if you have to..and youre on the highway.. drive on the left lane.. use the loudspeaker or handsfree feature. oh yea fellas.. if you see a best ting on the side of the road.. you relly tink she will like when yuh honk up your horn and stop and whistle n ting?? if you have to watch.. juss slow down and watch naaa oh goshh lol

city driving
driving in traffic is normal.. try not to be multitasking coz i know a teenage girl who dropped her cellfone and when trying to get it, accidently come off the brakes and hit the car infront of her. and you may have to go tru tight spaces, so keep an eye on the mirrors, and always know who have the right of way or if you shouldnt be doing someting.

alcohol
hmm.. allyuh young boys eh.. if you drink n drive and YOU SHOULD NOT AT ANY TIME!! doh look at your speedo to see how fast you are going every now and den.. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD! thats all i have in this case.. but always designate a driver.. but, trust mih, try yuh best to control yourself n dont drink if you have to drive! you have your whole life in front of you.

skidding
no experience here.. help me ppl? i would sloww and keep both hands on my steering wheel.

night driving
well i like the nite.. less cars on the road.. nice cool breeze.. but there are dangers as you cant see as far ahead.. use highbeam when you alone on a road but turn off if a car in oncoming.. if you see a drunk driver approaching, see if you could pull on the side and allow this driver to pass then stay as far back as possible.. be more observant.. especially to the road itself as yuh know how trini road is.. (hmph biggest pitch lake and the really bad roads cant be fixed.. chupes.. and dey damage the road more with all the paving, and dey patch like some rell arseholes)

stop lights
RED MEANS STOP
GREEN MEANS GO
YELLOW IS SLOW DOWN
some people like dey dont know this Confused

blind spots
ahh i had experience wid this.. best ting to do is invest in one of those mirrors that you stick on your side mirrors.. but if you dont have one, watch your centre mirror also, dis helps.. for me atleast

head on collisions
absolutely no experience here..
WEAR seatbelts.. doh gimme "it not comfortable" excuse.. the forkin ting adjustable chupes man. make sure you have good airbags.. dont buy a civic.

my 2 cents.. pls ADD.. and pls correct me where im rong

and always remember
DONT DRIVE FOR YOURSELF ONLY.. DRIVE FOR EVERY1 ON THE ROAD..
roads in trinidad can be tuff and drivers can be ignorant.. pls dont let them get to you as this can decrease confidence.. if you wrong in a situation where you get cuss up, shut ur arse and say tank god nothing happen and continue being more alert next time!

The person who is in the roundabout and is changing lanes do have the right away.

Blinking amber traffic light

Proceed with caution but giving right away to incoming traffic..
