So i'm lookin to buy a new digi cam Sad

I'm thinking about getting a dSLR but since it would be my first SLR cam i'm looking for something 'entry level', if such a SLR exists. I was looking @ the Digital Rebel XT or the new 10Mp XTi, since i've had some experience using a Rebel XT and a 20D. The only thing i dont like about the canons is the resolution they shoot at.

Any suggestions? I'm lookin for something that doesnt require me to be a pro photographer to set it up. Sad

Yes it was the XT im leaning towards, however the +2MP, 2.5" LCD and self cleaning features of the XTi making me wonder if its worth putting out the extra $$ Sad

I paid aroud $800 for the Olympus E-500 (8MP) with two lens kit 14-45mm and 40-150mm. The E-500 has the same self cleaning feature. I think this would certainly be worth it environs like rally etc. I say if you can afford the XTi that is the way to go.

You will need to start training yourself in photo theory to max the features of any of those cams and get the winning shots.

^yepp i went to that thread 1st before i posted this, i was hoping to get some feed back on other brands here apart from the two discussed in that thread.

I had no idea the E-500 had a self cleaning feature...is it as effective as the manufacturer claims ?or is it just hyped up for marketing Sad

It works quite well. It the time when the feature was released it was hailed as the best in the world because of it by the guys in the store where my uncle bought it Laughing Laughing

I think it's an important feature given that we like rallies.

ill be shooting at pretty much any motorsport event.
plenty carshows too...this is where my last point n shoot camera came short with the "night modes" doing a crappy job at capturing low light shots (and taking forever to do it too). also i've been informed that ill be involved in some photoshoots for some local cars for a showcase on a certain local automotive website Laughing Laughing

as for what im doin with the prints after, well apart from using them for event flyers and for event coverage on 2nr...i dont do much with them...

This is one item im going to keep for as long as i can.
