This is not recent news however a nice pug worth looking at..
Underneath, the 207 CC will use the same platform as the Citroen C3 Pluriel and share a similar suspension set-up. The CC will have a choice of the 1.6 and 2.0-litre petrol engines found in both the Citroen and current 206. Diesel power will come from a high-performance 2.0-litre HDi unit offering at least 130bhp.
Hatchback versions of the 207 CC will be built at Ryton, Coventry, where the 206 is currently made, while all other variants - including the CC - will be made in France. The car will debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2004, and be on sale in Britain the following spring
The Peugeot 207 hatchback goes into production imminently for a launch in early 2006; its coupe-cabriolet counterpart is following behind and will be ready to go on sale in time for summer 2007.
Like the hatch, the 207 CC is a little larger than the 206 it will replace, and it will share some of its underpinnings with the Citroen C3.
With its metal folding roof, it should be a much more solid drive and have a more refined feel than the scuttle-shake-prone C3 Pluriel, however.
The 207 CC will come with a small selection of the more powerful engines in the 207 range: expect the 110bhp 1.6-litre HDI diesel, as well as 2.0-litre petrol models, including a version developing 190bhp-plus. Further down the line, theres talk of a Ford Puma-style mini-coupe with a fixed hard-top, which could be the sportiest Peugeot of them all.

It was in the 1930s that Peugeot started the concept of the Coup Cabriolet, with the 401, 601 and 402 Eclipse. It was to become one of Peugeots trademark features and todays cars, the 206 and 307 CC have made the marque the top seller of Coup Cabriolets, with world wide sales of more than 500 000 vehicles since 2001.
Launched at the beginning of that year, the 206 CC brought a Coup Cabriolet with an electric folding roof into the price range of everyone. And with more than 360 000 units produced it is the worlds best selling small Coup Cabriolet.
Now the Peugeot 207 CC takes over.
As with the 207 hatchback the 207 CC shares the PSA Peugeot Citron Groups "No1 platform" and the Sport exterior styling found on the hatchback sport models. Styled by the Peugeot Style Centre, like the 206 CC, the 207 CC shares the same 2+2 type architecture. But dimensions are different: the wheelbase measures 2.540m, length is 4.037m, width 1.750m and height 1.397m (75mm less than the hatchback).
It also gets a new electric folding roof, designed in-house. With a similar operation to the 206 CC, the 207 CC roof, however, features entirely automatic operation. So no more manual release handles. The only manual operation consists of pressing the control button for around 25 seconds, during which time the opening or closing cycle is completed; after all four windows have been lowered automatically.
To maximise roof sealing and to help the opening of the doors, the electric front windows are equipped with an automatic window drop system.
Rigid, not frigid
Since the overall driving pleasure of a cabriolet depends greatly on the cars rigidity, Peugeot have paid special attention to this part of the car's design. The body rigidity allows the suspension to operate to its full potential, improving the overall driving experience. (The 207 CC retains the hatchbacks wide front and rear track and uses the same suspension, steering and braking set up.)
But the lack of a roof has also forced the designers to come up with a plan on the safety front. To limit injury as a result of a front impact, the structure of the 207 CC has been strengthened to compensate for the absence of a roof superstructure. This is combined with a dual front-impact absorption system which, like the hatchback, distributes impact energy between an upper structure and a lower structure. The latter also helps to protect pedestrians.
To reduce the effect of a side impact, the design of the A and B posts and lower sill panels create a solid reinforced safety frame. Added protection is also provided by the rigid doors which feature a strengthened upper panel and a tubular reinforcement bar.
To protect occupants when the 207 CC is in the Cabriolet configuration an active roll-over protection system is a standard feature of the safety specification.
Five airbags, three of which have been designed specially for the 207 CC, are available to protect the occupants: two adaptive front airbags; two head-chest side airbags located in the side of the front seats; and steering column airbag designed to protect the drivers lower limbs. For child safety, the front passenger seat of the 207 CC is equipped with a three-point Isofix attachment system.
Take a look inside
The 207 CC is fitted with sport seats which provide a driving position lower than that of the hatchback as you'd expect in a Coup Cabriolet.
A real 2+2, Peugeot reckons the 207 CC offers additional seating compared to a strict two-seater. The front seats can be tilted to gain access to the rear passenger seats.
Available as an option in the UK, Integral leather is rarely found in the small car segment. With this option the fascia panel and seats are both covered in leather with visible saddle stitching.
The 207 CC comes with either manual or automatic dual-zone air conditioning. The system has been designed to detect when the vehicle is being operated in the Cabriolet configuration, so that it can adapt its operation to the chosen body configuration.
The 207 CC can also be equipped with a fragrance diffuser integrated in the fascia panel.
Further back, the regular cube-shaped boot accommodates a space-saver spare wheel and offers a volume of 449 litres in the Coup configuration. In the Cabriolet guise it has a 187 litre capacity under the load space cover blind which separates the area for luggage from the area needed to accommodate the folded roof.
Give me power In the UK, the 207 CC will be available at launch with two petrol engines and one diesel.
A new 1.6-litre 16V petrol mill produces 89kW at 6000rpm and has a maximum torque of 160Nm at 4250rpm. It's the second engine created from the co-operation between PSA Peugeot Citron and the BMW Group.
Launched in the 207 GT THP 150 hatchback, the 1.6-litre 16V turbo-charged THP engine (standing for Turbo High Pressure) now finds its second application in the 207 CC. Its maximum torque of 240Nm is available from an engine speed of 1400rpm and its power of 111kW at 5800 rpm. It features a "Twin-Scroll" turbocharger, variable valve timing system and direct petrol injection.
The 207 CC range will also feature Peugeots Euro IV 1.6-litre HDi diesel engine, which has a maximum power of 82kW at 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 240Nm from 1750rpm, or 260Nm with the over-boost function.
All the engines are combined with a five-speed manual gearbox.
A four-speed automatic gearbox with a Porsche System Tiptronic sequential control is also available on the new 1.6-litre 16V 89kW petrol engine.
The 207 CC will go on sale in the UK in March 2007.
