Bajans @ Wallers - 1 casualty so far...

The Bajans seem to like the circuit @ Wallerfield and were practicing hard on Friday 29th. Unfortunately the BMW M3-powered Escort of Sammy Cummerbatch lost brakes and sent him hurtling into the wall at the hairpin after taking the chicane under full power. The other competitors were diligently tuning their Group 2 cars and seem optimistic about their chances in competition.

Sammy is okay. He complained of some chest pains but he seems to just be bruised (so far) from the impact and his harness. As you can see in the photos, the roll cage definitely did it's job! He was taken to hospital for medical examination.

On the local front Chevron sponsored Ravi Singh in his 3rd generation Rx7 was also present at Wallerfield on Friday running in his new Canadian built rotary engine. Estimated to be putting out around 280 horses at the wheels we know Ravi will be gunning for Daniel's car. With a new engine power on the straights should be better but Ravi says his suspension is next in line for a refresher.

But seriously, seeing that destroyed BMW Escort close up is totally different to the pics. Sammy real lucky that the roll cage did its work.

And he was a real crowd favourite at the Barbados Rally Carnival caded for the end of May.
