How hard are parts to get for these cars? I'm talking about everything from engine sensors and mounts, to shocks, velocity joints, steering components and belts. _________________ Procrastination is the father of invention! |

Sorry tim I don't know anything about the Mivec I'm afraid.
From a little experience with the G62B, G63B, 4G93 and 4G63; parts will be a big problem.
~sensors - I had to get aquainted with the more friendly Sales reps at Diamond Motors
to get info about cross-platform part numbers for particular sensors and other parts.
~mounts - I buy identically sized (or other) substitutes (with different mounting-plates.)
Press out and swap, and there you go... new mounts.
*Actually measure them with a vernier or micrometer screw gauge (to 0.01" at least.)
*WARNING* - When pressing take care. Some bushings (& housings) are TAPERED.
They should be only pressed out (and back in) from one direction (side) only
Don't leave it up to the person doing the pressing... Check yourself
As insurance for a "custom" mount like this, I usually stitch-weld the shell on 3 or 4 places per side.
*Wet to cool thoroughly between welds to protect rubber, and use a "Mig" to reduce heat used.*
~belts - Hope and pray... hope and pray. Check all sources below.*
(Once a commercial Ford belt (van) was the identical size and tooth-shape for a application.)
~shocks, velocity joints, steering components - substitutes might work from other models, not so
What about FWD 1600 GLXi's etc.
I find that the following sources sometimes have what you're looking for.
*Diamond Motors - Richmond Street, PoS - (but sheit... the prices.)
*Special Auto & *PT Auto - Petit Bourg on Eastern Main Road (after San Juan going east.)
*Mel's Auto - Richmond Street - (Hyundai use engines, boi )
*Mathura's Auto - St. James.
*Bamboo Village - (sometimes - take your pick)
Basically... Itz ah bitch My $0.01 _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick!

Great info, I'm referring to specs here and I see that they refer to the engine as a 4G92 MIVEC...
http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/19184/
I was wondering if since it's a 4G92, if engine parts discussed above would be the same as the GLXi Lancer. _________________ Procrastination is the father of invention! |

Sorry I don't know for sure. Maybe the same 1600 short-block, but pistons might differ (C/R )
Check first with Mitsu Exec on 3ne 2nr and search on MLR in UK (check directory.) _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

the blokc is more or less the same it's the head that is different.....
most of everything on the engine is the same...
mivec tech is based in the head much like honda's vtec......
so it's the sensors on the head to worry about...
not to sure about the intake sensors...
i think the mivec uses map sensors so u can get that off the 4g15 dohc or go with aftermarket stuff...
should not have *prays* too much problems...but it is a pain to source parts for any mitsu....
so good luck and happy hunting.... |
