well the rotors are in and they stopping sweet, there's probably a 50% increase in performance and it's bolt for bolt so no modifications required and because the DX setup has drums in the rear there in no reason to change boostesr as the stopping ratio is alraedy there, unless an engine swap is coming Twisted Evil but with this setup only rims 14" and up will work

well there is where I stumped, the DX running leaf springs in the rear so I am yet to come up with an alternative to the drums in the rear, I'm just buying good shoes

your wagon being a four cylinder engine with a Distributorless Ignition System will require an MSD DIS-2 2 channel system. however if you are considering going boost then you will need an MSD Multi Channel Boost Timing Master or BTM. the MSD multi channel BTM does not work with the DIS-2 but is listed for the MSD DIS-4. there is also an MSD Multi Channel BTM fitted with a fuel adder feature that can control up to four additional injectors.

to make it simple
want an MSD but have no boost in your future, use MSD DIS-2, part number 62112
Want to buy MSD now but may boost later, use MSD DIS-4, part number 62152
want to run boost, use MSD DIS-4 along with MSD Multi Channel Boost Retard Control part number 6562.
want to run additional injectors as part of the boost project, use MSD DIS-4 along with MSD Multi Channel Boost Retard Control with Fuel Adder part number 6563

thanks for the info but two quick questions, firstly what benefits would be derived from running the DIS-2 system on what is primarily an econo engine, and secondly how would I source a tach signal on the 5EFE for use with the dash panel tachometer

First question.

Are you planning to go boost? If not, there are other things to do than installing an MSD.

Let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

Lets understand how an MSD Ignition works.
At low rpm the MSD produces a series of sparks during each firing instead of one like a conventional ignition. At low engine speeds when the air/fuel molecules are not finely atomized, the multiple spark feature still ignites the mixture. But this isn't the only feature. The number of sparks produced by the MSD Is reduced as engine rpm increases simply because "time" becomes too short to repeat a spark. However, the spark series always lasts for 20 degrees of crankshaft rotation no matter what the rpm and no matter whether it is a single spark or a series of four or five spark. This 20-degree spark duration sequence insures that the air/fuel mixture is ignited and completely burned. Also each spark the MSD produces is an extremely high current spark. Current is what actually does the work or in this case ignites the fuel mixture. Together, the multiple sparks, the high current and the 20-degree duration, produce an ignition that is superior to any other ignition. More importantly though, the MSD Ignition ignites the fuel mixture in the cylinder instantly and insures complete combustion.

The result is reduced variations in burn times and therefore:
More engine power,
Better throttle response,
Easier starting,
Better fuel economy.

as for your question about the tach drive:
the tach will still be diven by the factory ECU

anybody can put onto a good auto electrician who can source the tach signal off the ecu, I've installed the dash panel off a BZ Touring on the DX and would like the tach to work, or would I need a tach adapter.I live Trincity so anywhere on the east-west corridor or as south as Chaguanas
