Red Bull has been most generous in offering to us an all expenses paid trip to the "Plaza del Toros", the world's largest bullfighting ring where we will attend the Red Bull X-Fighters event. It promises to be a most exciting motocross competition and display of pure trained MX skill. I will be attending the event on behalf of Zorce Magazine along with Mr. Genroy Forester, director of TORMATT (The Off Road Motorcycle Association of Trinidad & Tobago). We will be observing the organisation, layout, key attractions, competition and rider skill, advertising, hype and crowd response at the event. Hopefully, we will be able to adapt some of the ideas to improve our local MX events.

The energy at this place is AMAZING!!! 45,000 people in one massive arena. The place is like an ampitheatre so the sound is totally compressed - screams, whistling against the glow of the two huge LCD Red Bull screens. I'm at the media access internet station where all the journalists are gathered. There are teams here from Hungary, Jamaica, USA that I've met and a bunch of others speaking all sorts of languages. It's just about 8:35 Mexico time and the whole aura of the place is just building.... Wait... they are going to start I'm off to get more photos! Check wit y'all again in just a bit...

WOWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a baddass show!!! The girls in the crowd are still chanting "Ronnie! Ronnie!" for the winner of this incredible freestyle motorcross... This was a truly amazing experience, I am glad that I am able to report on the spot via internet. I've got some truly CARAAAAZY footage! When the crowd roars it truly makes it all the more exhilerating, the people respond and the riders fed off their energy.

In the first round there was the full complement of riders. By round 2 around 4 or so had been eliminated. Round 2 proceeded to yield 3 riders for the final round. In addition to puer skill and originality, working the crowd seemed to be a factor. This event had the pace and clockwork organised chaos that makes WWF so successful. Spot lights, pyrotechnics, flames and just riders being funny or enthusiastic seemed to be the winning combination. The music was also beautifully orchestrated, with full video recaps after each rider's performance accompanied by a wicked techno beat that encouraged one's attention.

Each rider also had a timer with dual displays a la Autosport lights counting down from the time they began. This fully ecouraged a sense of urgency as the riders tried to cram the maximum amount of rides and stunts into 2-2.5 minutes. Once the clock expired each rider was allowed a final jump over the finish marshall who waved the massive checkered flag. The time is now 11:30pm Mexico... what an amazing experience!!!
