As mentioned before, the exhaust system was a bit weird...starting with a 3inch up at the colelctors and joining to what we thoguht was a 2.5 inch.....when we went by Ventrura's today, it was really a 2.25 it collected into, really constricting the flow of the exhaust gases...

so, up on the ramp it went..

the Nur Spec tuned exhaust bit we want to use..

first item of business was to get rid of the current set up...gas welding to cut...

...and up at where the flange joined the smaller diameter to the 3 inch...

ahhhh...there....done...both bits off...

notice the difference in "flow" between what was there and what we intended to use...

next...was to cut off the 3 inch bit from the Nur Spec barrell and splice it back into the new system...that required removal of all shanks and mounts from the origianl system (was intended for a Scoobie apparently)

here they are "offering up" the 3 inch piece to the collector section..

same piece...differnt angle....so that yu can see the clearances..

Time to offer up the new barrel and see how it fits. Its advisable to stand directly behind the car to see how it really looks..cuz the technician is only seeing his side...

there we go...chucked with a good ole piece of 2X4 for now..

they had to fabricate a new piece to go over the axles....as we dont have mandrel bends (or rather the budget to afford such) we got them machine bent...

again...notice the difference in "flow patterns" between the two

then we ran into a glitch, and possibly the reason why it was 2.25 in the first place. Clearance above the axle was a bitch....after fitting it up, we saw that the angles we thought would be ok was really not so good.

..so they had to re cut and weld back different pieces....and grind it back to look "stock"

once that was done..it was "MIG weld" time....MIgging the barrel to the "over and under" piece...

10 mins later....

One issue i had with previous installs was "flanges" that decrease in diameter from what yu wnated...so we had them make two TRUE 3 inch flanges and a gasket. (cost me $110 extra but its worth it)

Here it is installed and just about to be bolted. Be sure that when this is done that the rear clamp of the setup is off...we ran into another slight space issue with this one, and had to recut and reshape slightly.

final MIG welding to the bits being done....

here are the two parts constructed and connected.

Bounce starter, check for air leaks (We had two)....check for system "resonance" (to see if the exhaust is touching the chassis in any way) under engine rev....and that was it.... swap completed. 3 hours total time

One pull out of the shop and it was clear in performance.....car moved and breathed differntly now...will observe gas comsuption

for sale..one 2.5 inch barrel....Pilot brand.....gimme $300 and take it.

next one the list..underbody wash to really see whats going on with the chassis.
