T&T’s best, as voted by the panel of judges at the Meguiar’s Car Crazy Show at the Centre of Excellence in April 2012, was the orange and black Arden Range Rover Sport prepared by 2k Kolour Kollection. The fully customised luxury SUV represented the passion and state-of-the-art of customising in our country at the Meguiar’s International Showcase held at the SEMA show in Las Vegas from October 30 to November 2, 2012. History was made in the process, as this was the first ever locally customised vehicle from Trinidad and Tobago to be exhibited at SEMA, which is widely regarded as the world’s largest automotive specialty equipment show.
This massive event known as SEMA or Specialty Equipment Market Association, encompasses all the latest innovations over several generations of cars. Exhibitors were grouped into a number of major sections, including Business Services, Collision Repair & Refinish, Global Tire Expo– powered by TIA (Tire Industry Association), Hot Rod Alley, Mobile Electronics & Technology, OEM, Powersports & Utility Vehicles, Racing & Performance, Restoration Marketplace, Restyling & Car Care Accessories, Tools & Equipment, Trucks, SUVs & Off Road, and Wheels & Accessories. It is estimated that this year at SEMA some 100,000 exhibitors were on display, making it a tall order to even walk the entire show in the four-day period. In addition to this, there were also many special feature displays like the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge, Overhaulin’ Studio with Chip Foose and a number of educational seminars, including Car Collision Repair Training and Turning Real Trends Into Real Revenue. Show guides and maps help you to analyse the expanse of the show and decide which areas you want to visit first.
The outdoor Car Crazy booth, in association with Meguiar’s was an international showcase of the best cars from selected countries, including Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, China, South Korea, France, Germany and Mexico. Barry Meguiar of Car Crazy interviewed Jeremy Gayadeen of 2k Kolour Kollection live on set about the passion that exists in T&T for cars and car customising. The interview is expected to be featured in the Car Crazy coverage of the SEMA 2012 show. Even officials from Land Rover UK stopped by to admire the extensive modifications done to the homegrown Range Rover Sport and expressed their amazement and appreciation for the high level of workmanship achieved.
